1. The first thing I did was to review the various sources that I had gathered in my bookmarks. I flagged the ones that I thought would be most useful to me in my research project and began to list those. Then I narrowed down the ones that I wanted to use for the project. I ended up not having the eight needed to complete the project so I asked a librarian to assist me in finding some other sources which ended up being very helpful in not only finding sources that support my point of view but a few that had other viewpoints. Once I got my eight sources I began to review the sources in more detail to be able to answer the various parts of the assignment. After summarizing the articles I evaluated them and then, of course, worked on the bibliography write-up in APA format. If I were to change anything I think I would have utilized the librarian earlier.
2. I think the thing I am most proud of is that I have some really good sources now that will really help me in completing my research and that I was able to get them more organized now. I’m not always the most organized so this is why I am most proud of the accomplishment. If there were more time I would want to go more in detail of what each sources was about and to start picking out quotes and statistics that I could use in my final research.
3. I still have not been able to figure out the Turnitin.com system and the reports I am suppose to be receiving. In my last project reflection I indicated this and have still not been able to receive information on how to make this work for me.
4. This time I wanted to make the sentences more precise and clear and that my flow would be better. I still am not totally confident in my writing skills and see many areas that I still need to work on. I want to work on making my paragraphs more stimulating and interesting by the language I use; I’d like to keep a balance between simple and using various word choices.
5. The course outcomes that I felt I worked on with this writing project were:
- Find, evaluate, select, and synthesize both online and print sources that examine a topic from multiple perspectives.
- Integrate sources through summarizing, paraphrasing, and quotation from sources to develop and support one’s own ideas.
- Identify, select and use an appropriate documentation style to maintain academic integrity.
I felt that I got somewhat more comfortable working with the online library and the various internet search sources. Then using the librarian was a really “ah-ha” moment for me and what a great resource that is to use now and in the future. I felt that the summarizing could have been stronger as well as the active search for quotes and statistics. I am getting more comfortable working with the APA documentation format but there are times I am unsure of when to use online style verses periodical style. I guess in time this will come.
For the next writing project I plan to work on the following course outcomes:
- Write for specific rhetorical contexts, including circumstance, purpose, topic, audience and writer, as well as the writing’s ethical, political, and cultural implications.
- Organize writing to support a central idea through unity, coherence and logical development appropriate to a specific writing context.

Don’t worry I havent yet learned to use the turnitin system yet either. I think its really great how you were able to get the help of a librarian. I think my paper would have been better if I had done so. I think I will consider this next time a need to find a lot of sources.

I still need to visit the library myself I hope I have the experience you did. it is funny how it is such a great resource be we all seem to just use the information on websites that are readily available. I had problems with the turnitin as well I just referred to the peer review that I got to respond to that section. It would be cool to see how it works if any of us could have any success using it.
